Artists for Humanity, Boston Wedding

Erica and Matt were wed on May 4th at Artists for Humanity in Boston, MA! Their day was filled with family and friends who clapped and cheered for them through the day and danced with them through the night - seriously, that was one of the funnest dance floors I’ve seen in a WHILE. They also incorporated their friends/family as vendors, supporting their loved ones who they know and trust! Erica’s sister Martha (Made Floral) did the beautiful flowers, and Manny Hernandez of Agostino Salon in Beacon Hill , who has been doing Erica’s hair since she was a teenager, styled hair. The ladies looked lovely, the guys looked sharp, and I was thrilled to be the one to photograph this day.

This was my first time shooting at Artists for Humanity, and it definitely won’t be my last. I LOVE this place! The staff there is amazing - Kristina, the event coordinator, and Jeanne, the lead of catering at Gourmet, were so devoted to making sure this day was unforgettable for the couple and it made quite an impression on me. It’s amazing to work alongside other wedding vendors in this industry who are so caring and thorough. Everything went like seamless clockwork and it was inspiring to see it happen and be a part of it.

It’s important to feel comfortable in the space you’re navigating and capturing as a photographer, and as  soon as I stepped into AFH, I felt at home. Art adorns the walls that wrap around the venue and lead to industrial garage doors that let in soft, natural light. Upstairs in the artist studio workspace, the air smells like paint in the best possible way; in the way that you just know something good is happening here, creative juices ebb and flow throughout, and young artists are learning and growing.

I consider myself an artist, in and out of weddings, so I say with confidence: AFH is a haven for young talent. The rental fee for events at AFH go directly to funding the employment of over 250 under-resourced creative Boston teens annually in art and design. AFH is dedicated to providing a safe space for teens to engage in experiential art and enterprise learning during out-of-school time. More importantly, they are paid for their time and talent, utilizing their passions for the world to enjoy, see, use and buy.

The fact Matt and Erica chose this as their Boston wedding venue speaks volumes to what they value, and I was so grateful to be a part of their day.

This space is super unique, surrounded outside by amazing textures and urbanscapes that I had a blast incorporating into my imagery. Erica and Matt were so down to trust the way I handled the ‘gritty’ urban feel and I’m really happy with what we got! Oh…and scroll down to see some never-done-before-in-the-history-of-AFH Boston skyline photos with these two! I location scouted the area a week beforehand and when I saw this parking garage, I hoped their roof deck didn’t disappoint… it didn’t.

THANK YOU, Matt and Erica for choosing me as your photographer…and thank you to the other amazing vendors that made this day gorgeous:
